Derek Blazensky

Managing Director, Cardinal Venture Capital

Derek Blazensky is a founding partner of Cardinal Venture Capital. He focuses on investment opportunities in software for wireless and mobility as well as the new software paradigm for the enterprise: software-as-a-service. Prior to forming Cardinal Venture Capital, Derek managed venture investments for Adobe Ventures. His portfolio companies included Tumbleweed Communications (Nasdaq: TMWD), advanced email solutions for business communications and AvantGo, a mobile Internet company acquired by Sybase. Derek sits on the boards of Cardinal portfolio companies GuardianEdge Technologies and deCarta. Derek received his B.A. from Fairfield University and his B.S. in Engineering & Computer Science from the University of Connecticut.

Chip Davis

Managing Partner, Houston Ventures, L.P.

Chip Davis is a managing partner at Houston Ventures, L.P., an investment firm that funds companies that apply technology solutions in the energy technology sector. He has 16 + years of experience investing in early-stage technology companies. He has served as a director or board observer for several information technology companies including Syntex Management Systems, World Telemetry, IndX Software, Lombardi Software, RigNet, NuPhysicia and Wayport Inc. Mr. Davis graduated from Washington & Lee University and is a Certified Public Accountant in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Bruns Grayson

Managing Partner, ABS Ventures

Bruns has been in venture capital since his start with Adler & Co. in New York in 1981. In 1983, he joined well-known technology investment bank Alex. Brown and Sons to lead its venture business, and has been Managing Partner of all ABS Ventures partnerships since. His investments have been in data communication, software and medical devices, and he has been adirector on many private and public companies. Bruns is a graduate of Harvard College, Oxford University and the University of Virginia School of Law, and was elected a Rhodes Scholar from California in 1974. He served in the US Army in Vietnam and separated as a captain in 1970. In addition to Zilliant, Bruns is on the boards of Active Network, Intact Medical, Rib-X Pharmaceuticals, and Wimba.

John L. Long

Co-Founder, Trellis Partners

Prior to founding Trellis Partners, John served as a partner of Dakota Venture Management Company. Previously, he was with Southwest Venture Partners where his primary investment focus was early-stage information technology projects. He eventually became responsible for the company’s most successful investments, including Chipcom, Dell Computer, Surgical Laser Technologies, Pilot Software, and Garden Ridge. John also serves as a Director of Wayport, Baseball Express and BetweenMarkets.

Greg Peters

Chairman, President and CEO, Zilliant

Greg oversees all of Zilliant’s operations, including its strategic direction, product planning and development, as well as its financial management. Under Greg’s leadership, Zilliant has grown into one of the leading providers in predictive B2B sales analytics and has pioneered new approaches for companies to harness the power of Big Data. Prior to Zilliant, Greg served as president and CEO of Vignette, the leading content management company and one of the most successful initial public offerings in 1999. He also served as president and chief executive officer of Logic Works, Inc. and controller and chief financial officer for Micrografx, Inc. Greg sits on the board of directors at Planview and Surgient, and is an accomplished speaker who has appeared at numerous leading industry events.

James M. Schneider

Independent Board Member

Mr. Schneider worked with Dell for nearly 10 years, ultimately serving as Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President. Prior to joining Dell Computer in September 1996, he was with MCI, where he served as its Senior Vice President of Corporate Finance. For 19 years prior to joining MCI, Mr. Schneider was with the accounting firm of Price Waterhouse LLP and served as a Partner from October 1983 to September 1993. For two consecutive years, Institutional Investor named him a top Chief Financial Officer in I/T hardware and in 2003, he was named one of the 100 most influential Finance Executives by Treasury & Risk Management magazine. He is a Certified Public Accountant, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Carroll College, and is a Member of the Financial Executives Institute. In addition to Zilliant, James is on the boards of Frontier Bancshares, Horizon Bank, General Communications, Multlink Technology, Centro, and Maritime Systems & Sensors.

John Thornton

General Partner, Austin Ventures

John Thornton, General Partner, joined Austin Ventures in 1991 and focuses on software investing and firm strategy. Previously, John was with McKinsey & Co., where he served clients in the U.S. and Europe. He has worked with companies such as Active Power (NASDAQ: ACPW), Dazel (NYSE: HP), Lombardi (NYSE: IBM), Metasolv (NASDAQ: MSLV), Mission Critical (NASDAQ: NTIQ), Motive (NASDAQ: MOTV), Pentasafe (NASDAQ: NTIQ), SolarWinds (NYSE: SWI), TechRepublic (NYSE: IT), Tivoli (NYSE: IBM), Vignette (NASDAQ: VIGN), and Waveset (NASDAQ: SUNW).
